I Pledged

I pledged ... long nights and hard days
I pledged ... some right and wrong ways
I pledged ... with many and at times alone
I pledged ... listening to a repetitive tone
I pledged ... stomach full or stomach rumble
I pledged ... always proud but ever so humble
I pledged ... with chaos and with order
I pledged ... and was down to my last quarter
I pledged ... 'til I could barely speak a word
I pledged ... and I think we lost a third
I pledged ... and I was half past dead
But I'm smiling now because I'm glad I pledged
